An entire generation of Palestinian children has lost years of schooling. Schools have been damaged or repurposed as shelters, teachers displaced, and families who once earned a living now have no work at all. Education and Livelihoods restores both — classrooms for children, and the tools and training that let parents provide again. It is the difference between surviving a crisis and recovering from one.
“When a person dies, their deeds come to an end except for three: ongoing charity, beneficial knowledge, or a righteous child who prays for them.” (Sahih Muslim)
Beneficial knowledge is named explicitly among the deeds that outlive us. A child taught to read will read for sixty years. A parent given the means to earn will feed their household without needing aid at all. Emergency relief keeps people alive; education and livelihoods give them a future to be alive for.
Our team will happily answer any questions you have about our schools programme, scholarships and livelihood projects, and how you can support them. Email us at vpmalaysia@gmail.com, or give us a call at (60) 18-913-5849. Also check out our FAQ below!
Education
Livelihoods
RM [TO CONFIRM]
A bag, books, stationery and the basics a child needs to return to learning.
RM [TO CONFIRM]
Fund the repair or fit-out of a learning space that will serve children for years to come — a lasting Sadaqah Jariyah.
RM [TO CONFIRM]
Tools and materials so a parent can earn an income again and support their family without aid.
Aid saves lives, but it cannot be the permanent state of a community. Livelihood support does something relief cannot:
Large numbers of schools have been damaged, destroyed or converted into shelters for displaced families, and children have lost extended periods of schooling. [TO CONFIRM: cite a current figure from a named source such as UNRWA or OCHA, with the date — do not publish an unsourced number.]
It depends on the form. Zakat given directly to a poor student or family — for fees, books or living costs — is generally permissible. Funding a school building is usually treated as Sadaqah rather than Zakat. Tell us if your donation is Zakat and we will direct it appropriately. [TO CONFIRM with religious advisor.]
Yes. A learning space benefits students continuously for years, which places it among the clearest forms of ongoing charity.
[TO CONFIRM: whether VPM runs an individual child sponsorship scheme. If not, say so plainly and point donors to the general education fund.]
Support is matched to the trade and the person — tools for a carpenter, a sewing machine for a seamstress, stock for a small shop, or training in a marketable skill.
Our partners assess households on need, existing skills and the likelihood that the support will produce a sustainable income, with priority given to female-headed households and families with no other earner.
